The "McDonald's Educates Scholarship" program celebrates multiculturalism by honoring outstanding high school seniors who demonstrate leadership, character, exceptional scholastic skills and volunteerism. Applicants are asked to complete two short answer questions on cultural diversity and community service.

Eligibility: The scholarship program is open to high school seniors residing within the Greater Washington, D.C., area - including the District of Columbia and portions of Maryland, Northern Virginia, and West Virginia. Please see the scholarship application for further details.

History: In 2008, 45 local students were awarded $1,500 scholarships to the college or university of their choice. McDonald's announces winners in the spring. Over recent years, McDonald's has awarded over $1.2 million to local students through scholarship programs.
